This past weekend, my husband & I flew up to New York for what was one of the most special events in my life: my baby shower! My parents put together such a marvelous event–a beautifully decorated, seated lunch at an Italian restaurant, filled with games, fun, love, and laughter.
Although I lived the majority of my life in New York, I currently live on the other side of the country. That made throwing a “conventional” shower (bringing gifts to the party) a bit tricky. So guest sent gifts through my registry (at Babies R Us) straight to my house as opposed to bringing them to the shower. The shower became more about celebrating the coming arrival of a new life, my little Ava Grace, with close family members and friends. I could tell that the shower was a labor of love for my parents. Both filled with endless creativity (they are both in Marketing), they worked hard on even the tiniest details at the party. That alone made me feel so loved & so special. I know I’m super blessed to have such amazing parents.
My mom & I brainstormed a little elephant as the theme of the party. She then designed the cutest girly elephant, which was used for the centerpiece and other elements of the party. I still can’t believe that she drew and sewed everything by hand!
More handmade & original decorations by my mom! My dad, aunt, and grandma all helped with the assembly of some of the items!
Notice the book library. My mom had an idea–instead of a card, each guest bring a children’s book with a message inside. I love it!
My husband & I. My husband wore a pink button down in honor of our baby girl. 🙂
My close friend & I, who are both pregnant at the same time! Just a few weeks apart! A happy coincidence 🙂
Some of my beautiful family & friends!
In addition to playing “The Price Is Right” (guessing how much baby items cost) and “What’s In Your Purse” (person with the most items wins!), we had a contest between some of the men: who can diaper the baby the fastest? My husband won!
In front of my cupcake tower! Cupcakes from Lulu’s, in Queens, NY.
